Context
Socialism first came into the world in the French Revolution with philosophers like Charles Fourier and Robert Owen. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels added onto their ideas 60 years later. Socialist theory came at a time when the working class also known as the proletariat was in absolute poverty while the employers were reaping rewards. After Marx had seen the proletariat work so hard for so little he thought that they the workers should own everything as they are the driving force of the economy.
